Newman University Cross Country Teams receive top academic honors

The Newman University Men’s Cross Country Team has the highest GPA in the nation in all of the NCAA, including Division I, II and III, according to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The Newman Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Teams were both named Academic All-American teams on Friday, Feb. 14 by the USTFCCCA.

A total of 136 women’s programs and 94 men’s programs earned All-Academic Team honors.

The Newman men’s team totaled a team GPA of 3.80 – the highest in all NCAA levels. It’s is the third straight season for the Jets to earn the honor.

The Jets GPA outranked Div I UT Chattanooga, which totaled a 3.71, and Div III Ithaca, which totaled a 3.66, to earn the highest GPA in all of NCAA men’s cross country. The women’s team earned the honor for the fifth straight season. The Lady Jets had a team GPA of 3.23.
