The Newman University campus will soon be buzzing with activity to celebrate the canonization of its namesake, Blessed John Henry Cardinal Newman.

At the request of the Gerber Institute, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs Rosemary Niedens put together a trivia game for the week leading up to the canonization.

Niedens has a reputation at Newman for devising contests and was excited to create informative and fun trivia about a historical figure who means so much to the university.

The entire Newman community is invited to play along in the trivia game that will begin Monday, Oct. 7, and end Friday, Oct. 11.

Each day of the week, a link to the daily trivia question will be emailed to the Newman community and posted on Newman’s social media platforms. Individuals can enter once per day. At the end of each day, a winner will be randomly selected from all correct entries. The daily winner will be announced the following morning along with that day’s clue.

Prizes are sponsored by the Gerber Institute and will be awarded to each daily winner — Monday through Thursday winners will receive a $25Amazon gift card and Friday’s winner will receive a $50 Amazon gift card.

Niedens is looking forward to providing the community with facts about John Henry Cardinal Newman, she said.

“I’m always happy to do something that provides broad outreach to our entire community, whether they’re here on campus or not. This is going to be a chance for somebody to win some money. The bad part is, I don’t get to play because I wrote it,” she said.
