Newman University Dean of Students Levi Esses has been elected vice chair for communications of the Commission for Admissions, Orientation, and First-Year Experience (AOFYE).
The Commission advises the American College Personnel Association, headquartered in Washington, D.C., at the National Center for Higher Education.
Esses has served on the AOFYE directorate for two years prior to his new position. On the board, he collaborates with higher education professionals from institutions across the United States.
According to its website, the AOFYE provides superior resources for scholarship, recognition, and networking for all association members whose work is engaged in the management of student enrollment and adjustment.
“The ACPA was established to help student affairs professionals. To be able to assist colleagues in admissions, orientation, and first year experience is a blessing. I find value in help in others and helping areas of student affairs advance in the future. I also work with some incredible individuals on the directorate board from large public institutions to small private. The connections I make are valuable to me and assist my professional growth,” Esses said.
Esses believes his exposure to the organization can help Newman.
“I will be able to bring best practice experiences from other colleagues and professionals to the Newman campus. We also promote undergraduates and graduate students to pursue a career in student affairs so they connections I make with these individuals is always valuable,” Esses added.
