Newman University dedicates Dresselhaus SGA Patio Aug. 29

Aug 29, 2013

Former Vice President for Finance and Administration Mark Dresselhaus was honored Aug. 29 with the dedication of a new patio bearing his name. The patio project was initiated by the Newman University Student Government Association, which voted in the 2012-13 academic year to use student activity fee funds to create a patio that would provide additional space on campus for students to gather and have events. The patio was created over the summer, on the lawn northwest of Sacred Heart Hall.

The SGA decided to dedicate the patio to Dresselhaus, who recently retired after more than 20 years of service, to honor the many contributions he made to the university and specifically his hard work to ensure that the patio was created. On Aug. 29 the patio was formally dedicated following the university’s annual Matriculation Mass. Newman University President Noreen M. Carrocci, Ph.D. oversaw the dedication ceremony, which included a blessing by Newman Chaplain and Assistant Professor of Theology Fr. Michael Linnebur.
