Destiny Clark has been named the head volleyball coach at Newman University, Athletic Director Vic Trilli announced. Clark has spent the last two seasons as the head coach at Wichita Collegiate High School.
“Destiny Clark is an awesome fit for the Newman University Athletic Department, and the NU volleyball program.” Trilli said. “We are extremely excited for someone of her caliber to come in and lead the volleyball program. She has been well received at every place she has been, and she has experience playing at the highest level of volleyball.”
In her two seasons at Collegiate, Clark coached an Ark Volleyball-Chisholm Trail Most Valuable Player and All-League First Team selection. Two other Spartans were named All-League Honorable Mention. She led the Spartans to the second round of sub-state in her first season.
“I am super excited to have this opportunity to be the head coach at Newman University,” Clark said. “I feel my knowledge of the game and passion for the sport will take an already great program and take it to the next level.”
Clark became the head coach at Wichita Collegiate after serving two seasons at the assistant coach.
For the last two seasons, Clark also served at the head strength and conditioning coach for female athletes at Wichita Collegiate. She was the summer conditioning coach for the previous two seasons. Clark is a CSCS certified strength coach, and was a personal trainer before becoming the head coach at Collegiate.
Clark also brings volleyball club experience. She was the head volleyball coach for the ICT MAVS 18-1 team. Her club team advanced to nationals every season she was the coach. In her time as a club coach, she has sent three players to NCAA Division I programs and many others to the NCAA Division II and NJCAA level.
Clark was a standout volleyball player at the University of Arkansas. She was the 2008 team captain and currently holds the school record for most blocks in a five set match. Clark was selected to the All-SEC Freshman Team and was on the All-SEC Academic Honor Roll. She earned her master’s degree in exercise science and bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from the University of Arkansas.
