The 2016-2017 Newman University Orientation Leaders were announced this week and many of them are already excited for Jet Days.
Orientation Leaders assist the Student Life team in not only welcoming new students to Newman University, but also helping them move in and become more acquainted with the school. This group of students lead panel discussions, informational sessions and campus tours during Jet Days
Sophomore and Freshman OL Delaney Hiegert said she’s looking forward to Jet Days.
“I wanted to become an Orientation Leader because I remembered my freshman orientation and my OL was a big part of the experience,” she said. “They make it enjoyable and allow the freshmen to open up and enjoy their first weeks at Newman.”
Senior Josephina Gregory-Jenkins, who is from England, said she is excited to help international students specifically.
“When I came to America, they first week was so scary and I got really homesick,” she said. “My OL was awesome. She helped me get through my homesickness and got me on track. I want to make the freshmen feel at home and make connections as soon as they get here. That makes all the difference.”
