Newman University student Melissa Baalmann received the prestigious St. Catherine Medal, which is awarded annually to a sophomore or junior who has demonstrated outstanding service to the university, and has established an excellent record for scholastic achievement.
The award was presented Wednesday, April 18, at the 2012 Newman University Academic Honors and Awards Convocation, an annual event that honors student scholars and leaders for their outstanding academic achievements and accomplishments.
In addition to her academic accomplishments, Baalmann, a junior nursing student from Colwich, Kan., is a member of the Newman Pep Band and sings in the Chorale. With Baalmann is Newman President Noreen M. Carrocci, Ph.D.
