NU alum plays role in Jesse James Documentary

Nov 12, 2009

Newman alum Ron Pastore, ’94 graduate and a history buff , plays a key role in the new documentary “Jesse James’ Hidden Treasure.” The documentary is currently airing on the History Channel and will air again Saturday, Nov. 14, at 5 p.m.

By the time Jesse James was killed in 1882, he’d stolen over a million and a half dollars according to some estimates–gold, coins and cash that could be worth more than $50 million today. In this documentary a team of treasure hunters including Pastore, rethink why Jesse James’ stole and raise questions about his death.

According to an article in the Nov. 9, 2009 issue of the Wichita Eagle, Pastore is convinced Jesse James faked his death and quietly lived out his life in southeast Kansas. Pastore led hunts and deciphered codes as part of his research, and after this documentary airs, he’ll then reveal whether or not he uncovered any of the treasure.
