NU salutes 2009 Hispanic Scholars

Dec 03, 2009

Twenty four Wichita high school students were honored Dec. 2 for successfully completing the Newman University Hispanic Scholar Program.

The program, now in its ninth year, is designed to encourage students to finish high school and consider college by strengthening their academic skills and making learning a fun experience. During the semester-long program students conduct individualized projects in the biological, health or physical sciences, which include a literature search, laboratory and field experiments, data collection and analysis, and writing a paper in a scientific format. Newman waives tuition and awards students two hours of college credit and a $100 stipend.
