Party on the Plaza: A Night in Tuscany is only weeks away. This year’s event will begin at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, following a 5 p.m. Mass in St. John’s Chapel at Newman University.
The annual fundraiser, once known as Party on the Ponderosa, has evolved throughout the years. The party eventually moved to Founder’s Plaza on the Newman University campus after being held at the ranch of Mid-America Ag Network owner Larry Steckline and his wife Carla Stovall Steckline for many years.
The party has also seen different themes throughout its existence. The themes have included a Western feel, New Orleans flair, Octoberfest and is currently an Italian “Night in Tuscany.”
The evening includes a delicious Italian meal and complimentary wine and beer. An opportunity to support student scholarships will be available through a silent and live auction during the event, along with the popular Golden Ticket sales. Individuals will receive Golden Tickets with a $100 donation per ticket for a chance to win the live auction item of their choice.
The silent auction will have a new spin as well this year. The items will still be displayed live at the event, but all bidding will take place online via smartphones. For those without a device, volunteers will be stationed throughout the night with kiosks so participants can bid. All the items will be photographed and pictured online as well.
Tickets to the event are $120 and still available for purchase. For more information, contact Beth Fatkin at (316) 942-4291, ext. 2165.
