Just around the corner on Saturday, Sept. 24, Newman will host its annual “Party on the Plaza” with this year’s theme, “Oktoberfest.” The event will take place from 4:30 to 11:30 p.m. on Founders Plaza, just south of the De Mattias Fine Arts Center on the Newman campus.
Among the many activities scheduled for the evening are a ceremonial tapping of the keg by Wichita Mayor Carl Brewer and Newman President Noreen M. Carrocci, Ph.D., German food and drink, music by the Bucky Fowler Band, and a live and silent auction including items such as:
- A private Village Tours day-trip to a location of your choice for up to 56 passengers.
- A one-of-a-kind children’s clubhouse by Robl Construction.
- LASIK Surgery performed by Dr. Mark Wellemeyer of Grene Laser. (Service is transferable in rare case winner is not eligible. Get a free screening for eligibility at 316-691-4444. )
The event begins at 4:30 p.m. for those who wish to participate in the celebration of Sunday Vigil Mass in St. John’s Chapel on the Newman campus. Party on the Plaza activities begin at 5 p.m. and continue through the evening.
Reservations are required. Tickets for the entire evening are $100, $70 of which is tax-deductible. Tables of eight are also available for $700, $460 of which is tax-deductible.
All proceeds will benefit scholarships at Newman University.
