Project Sonrisa delivers 11,000 toothbrushes

Jun 01, 2010

Newman University students in the Study and Serve in Guatemala project are currently working on intensive language study this week in Guatemala. Their service project for this trip was to deliver toothbrushes to needy children there. Through the efforts of Project Sonrisa (Project Smile), Newman students collected more than 11,300 toothbrushes.

“We have lots of new pictures of happy kids brushing with NU students,” said Newman professor Sonja Bontrager. “We were also able to buy $1000 worth of toothpaste to complete some more dental kits and are so grateful for all the help from the our community.  Thanks so much!”
