Newman University will welcome participants of the “Reacting to the Past” regional conference to campus this weekend. Educators will gather for a three-day workshop to learn the benefits and details of implementing elaborate games, set in the past, within their classrooms.
“Reacting to the Past” (RTTP) is a pedagogy designed to draw students into the past, promote engagement with big ideas, and improve intellectual and academic skills. RTTP uses role playing and information from classic texts, and class sessions are run entirely by students. Instructors advise and guide students, and grade their oral and written work.
