Last week, the Newman University Campus Ministry Office hosted Sarah Kroger to continue the annual tradition of holding a concert in St. John’s Chapel.
Kroger is a popular Catholic singer/songwriter from Melbourne, Fla. She performed songs from her albums “Your Time” and “Hallelujah Is Our Song” for a crowd of close to 60 people. The crowd consisted mostly of Newman students.
“She was wonderful,” said Administrative Assistant to Campus Ministry Monica Borger. “She connected really well to the student audience and that was really nice.”
Nate Siple, a Newman University student, was invited to open the concert for Kroger. The concert allowed Siple the opportunity to share his own gift of music with his peers.
“Nate was great,” Borger said. “He did an amazing job.”
Immediately following the concert a short Mass was celebrated by Newman Pastor Father Fogliasso followed by a reception in the Heritage Room. This gave everyone who attended a concert a chance to share fellowship with Kroger and Siple.
Campus Ministry present a concert every year, as well as many other events for Newman students and for the surrounding community.
