The Newman University Student Government Association (SGA) is hosting its annual Christmas party — free and open to all current students — on Wednesday, Dec. 5, in the Sister Tarcisia Roths, ASC, Alumni Center.
The event will begin with a SGA meeting at 6:30 p.m. followed by holiday activities, dinner and beverages from 7-9 p.m.
SGA President Marisa-Nicole Zayat said students will see some changes at this year’s party.
“We’ve had parties in the past, but this is the first time we’ve done an activity and the first time we’ve had a meeting during the holiday party,” explained Zayat.
The event will have an ugly Christmas sweater theme and students are encouraged to bring out their best ugly sweater for the big night. Votes will be tallied and a prize will be given to the winner of the ugliest sweater.
Zayat said there will also be a white elephant gift exchange.
“If students would like to participate in the gift exchange, we just ask that they bring a wrapped gift under $15 in value,” said Zayat.
Zayat said the get-together is a great way for students to connect with their SGA senators on a more personal level while being more engaged with their peers.
“We are trying to make this more interactive for the students and we just want to make sure they have a good time.”
