Students, alumni and fans of all ages are invited to “Spread the Red” and enjoy free pizza and free admission to the CBS College Sports Women’s Basketball Game of the Week on Saturday, Jan. 22, on the campus of Newman University.
Newman University has been selected to host the game of the week, which will be the first-ever nationally televised game from Fugate Gymnasium. In celebration of this historic event for Newman athletics, Fugate Enterprises/Pizza Hut will sponsor a pre-game pep rally starting at 10:30 a.m. in the Dugan-Gorges Conference Center featuring free Pizza Hut pizza and drinks. Fugate Enterprises will also sponsor the game, which includes free admission for anyone attending the contest between the Newman Women’s Basketball Team and Heartland Conference rival St. Edward’s University at 12:30 p.m. in Fugate Gymnasium.
“Words cannot accurately describe what a huge step this is for the Newman University Athletic Department, and especially the NU women’s basketball program,” Director of Athletics Vic Trilli said. “We are extremely grateful to the NCAA and CBS College Sports for giving us this opportunity. It will provide unparalleled exposure for our student-athletes and our university.”
In addition to free pizza, the first 1,500 fans to the pep rally and game will receive a free customized red t-shirt sponsored by Fugate Enterprises to help “Spread the Red’ in Fugate Gymnasium during the game. The pre-game pep rally will also feature face painting and remarks by Head Women’s Basketball Coach Jaime Green and Head Men’s Basketball Coach Mark Potter.
Alumni who plan to attend are encouraged to e-mail Assistant Athletic Director and Compliance Coordinator Joanna Pryor in advance at [email protected] with the number in your party and t-shirt sizes (S to 4XL) for pick-up at the pep rally.

The network is not readily available over the air or in standard cable packages in Wichita. In addition to appearing on CBS College Sports, the games will be available through the NCAA Productions syndication affiliates, and will be video-streamed concurrently on NCAA.com.
