Spring Newman University Magazine debuts

Apr 22, 2021

The newest issue of university’s online magazine is now available.

The 2021 Spring Newman University Magazine, which debuted April 21, features stories about Newman faculty, staff, students and alumni. The cover story features Newman’s Navigator program, the student success and support initiative that started last fall.

Editor Dana Beitey, who who named Newman director of alumni relations in March, has been leading the long form magazine. Rather than the traditional print version, the two issues created during the 2020-21 academic year are online only.

“For the past 12 years we have created an online version of our magazines. This is the first year  we did not design and a print the Newman University Magazine,” Beitey said.

We’re happy to provide these online installments of the magazine because we understand reading habits of our readers are evolving. That said, we also realize some alumni prefer a “hard copy” so we continue to look for the most effective ways to provide the publication for all.”

In addition to the cover story the new issue of the magazine includes a number of interesting stories, including a look at Newman’s academic schools, how the honors program enhances the student experience and an article spotlighting the cadaver lab, the only one in Kansas private colleges and universities.

“One of the more popular sections in every issue is the Faculty & Staff News. This time there are four stories in the segment which will garner a lot of attention, along with the Staff and faculty notes which highlights some of the accomplishments and milestone moments of Newman employees,” Beitey said.

In the University News Section, readers will find stories about new concentrations in the School of Business plus features on Litfest, Heritage Month and more.

Cliff Brown

A profile of long-time Newman men’s soccer coach Cliff Brown is center stage in the NU Athletics section. A number of student athletes are recognized in the Athletic Accomplishment story and a feature on the cheer and dance team are also included in the category.

The NU Giving area gives readers information about Sr. Therese Wetta, ASC, return to campus and the “value of time”.
