The opening Final Friday reception for “Hipsters and Heroes: Kansas and the Beat Experience,” will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 24 in the Steckline Gallery. The show, the second exhibition of the gallery’s 2010-2011 season, is a collection of works by different artists presented by curator James Johnson. The exhibit runs through Friday, Oct. 22. The opening reception and admission to the gallery are free and open to the public.
An “Art for Lunch” event featuring a lecture by the curator will also take place in the Jabara Flexible Theatre from noon until 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 28. This event is free, and a light lunch will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations are not required.
