The exhibition will be on display Nov. 6-26. An Art for Lunch event, which includes a discussion with the artists and a pizza lunch for Newman students, will take place Nov. 6 from noon-1 p.m. All events are free and open to the public.

About the exhibit
“Intersections, Loops, & Undulations” is a collaborative undertaking by Native American artist Santos, American artist Bubp and Peruvian artist Ramos that seeks social assemblage in difference.
The artists, who have collaborated in both Wichita, Kansas, and Lima, Peru, combine their artistic perspectives to explore perceptions of process, image and place. Through works on paper and video installations, they present visual dialogues in an effort to build community.

Vladimir Ramos
Ramos is a Peruvian visual artist who graduated from the National Autonomous University of Fine Arts of Peru with a degree in painting. He has exhibited in Peru, Mexico, Spain, Portugal, the United States, Puerto Rico and Germany. He uses different techniques, media and supports to experiment and focuses on themes like urban tensions, memory, identity and power.

He holds a master’s degree in artistic project production from the International University of La Rioja in Spain and teaches at both the National University of Engineering and the National Autonomous University of Fine Arts in Peru.
Ramos has received numerous honors throughout his career, including first prize in the Winsor & Newton Award for Best Young Artist, presented by the 2V’s Gallery in 1999.
Lori Santos
Santos, associate professor of art education at WSU, earned her Ph.D. in art education from the University of North Texas, a master’s in art museum education and a bachelor’s in art education K-12 from the University of Kansas.
A Native artist and educator of Hawaiian, Portuguese and Puerto Rican heritage, Santos incorporates social justice, Indigenous pedagogies and community-centered art education into her teaching. She also draws inspiration from the earth and its interconnected systems.

“I see the land, water, air, fire, minerals and our human and non-human relatives as intricately woven together in a web of life,” she said. “This worldview grounds my practice in ecological consciousness, calling me to nurture relationships rooted in care, reciprocity and justice.”
Her current work transforms natural materials such as leaves, flowers and bark into eco-prints that “carry the scents, textures and stories of a place,” she said.
“Each piece is a quiet collaboration with nature,” Santos added. “These prints are more than just artworks; they’re imprints of connection.”
