Students move into residence halls as school is set to begin

Newman volunteers and family members help new students move into the residence halls this week preparing for the fall semester which begins Aug. 22. This year’s new student orientation has a safari theme and has been dubbed “Explorientation ’09.” Currently there are 174 freshman and 185 transfer students enrolled at Newman with more possible to come, as well as upper classmen. On Friday, Aug. 21, students and parents will enjoy campus tours, a library open house, technology training, other orientation sessions and an evening with dinner at Tanganyika Wildlife Park. Orientation will continue through the weekend with highlights including a Department/Majors Fair, a wet ‘n wild day, a barbeque on the quad, Mass and more.
