Each year, the Wichita Business Journal features its list of Health Care Heroes as a way to honor companies, individuals and organizations for contributions they have made to help improve health care in Wichita and the surrounding area.

This year’s list includes three names familiar to Newman University. Those three individuals are alumnus Bradley Dart, M.D., of Advanced Orthopedic Associates, who was honored in the Physicians category, Newman University Associate Dean of Nursing and Allied Health Jane Weilert, Ed.D., who was honored in the Health Care Educators category, and alumna and Board of Trustees member Alice Wiggins of the Guadalupe Clinic, who was honored in the Health Care Volunteers category.

I am honored to be nominated. There are so many health care heroes in Wichita and most do not receive this recognition, so I am honored,” said Weilert. “My life at Newman and in nursing education has spanned over 30 years. I have learned all I know about nursing education and academia from my colleagues at Newman and the ASC Sisters. It is a great place to spend a professional life.”

The honorees will be recognized at a dinner reception held at the Hyatt Regency Wichita on Sept. 15. To register to attend, go here: http://www.bizjournals.com/wichita/event/137352/2016/health-care-heroes#register.
