It’s that time of the year again; on Oct. 7 – 9 Newman hosts its annual Family Weekend with over 100 people from five different states attending this year! This year’s festivities are even better than last year’s, so get ready for an amazing weekend. Not only is it Family Weekend, but Newman’s Alumni Weekend as well. This is a great opportunity for alumni, family and friends to reunite.
At 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 7, the festivities kick off with a tailgate party at Wilkins Field and a musical performance by “Heyday.” Following the tailgate party, the Jets men’s soccer team takes on St. Edward’s at 7 pm.
The best part of waking up is Newman’s coffee in your cup. Anyone hungry for some homemade warm fluffy pancakes? Saturday, Oct. 8 kicks off with a Pancake Feed at 11 a.m. in Gorges Atrium. Following the pancake feed, the lady Jets volleyball team will take on Oklahoma Panhandle State.
Like baseball? McCarthy Field is the place to be. Heard of the MLB All-Star Home Run Derby? They’ve got nothing on the Newman Baseball Hit-A-Thon at 2 p.m. at McCarthy Field. Throughout the day, stop by and watch our alumni games to see some of Newman’s greatest athletes show off their stuff. Ready for a laugh, some prizes, and an amazing show? Stop by the Performance Hall in the De Mattias Fine Arts Center later Saturday night at 7 p.m. for the Real Deal Game Show.
Oct. 9 is Sunday Liturgy at noon* in St. John’s Chapel in Sacred Heart Hall. Then at 1 p.m., the men’s Jets soccer team takes on Incarnate Word at Wilkins Field.
