Volleyball team heads to Heartland Conference Tournament

The Newman University Volleyball Team, with a record-setting regular season of 25-8, left early the morning of Nov. 19 on its way to the Heartland Conference Tournament in Fort Smith, Ark.

The team, holding the No. 2 seed, will play No. 3 Lubbock Christian at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20 to kick off the tournament.

The Lady Jets, led by new Head Coach Destiny Clark, broke three regular season records this year. Aside from having the best record, the team also has the longest winning streak and most conference wins.

The squad has had three members named Player of the Week in their respective positions – sophomore libero Anna Burton, senior setter Alexis Litts and senior hitter Ashley Gonzalez.

The Lady Jets No. 2 seed is one of the highest rankings an NU Volleyball Team has had going in to the postseason.

The Heartland Conference tournament will run Nov. 20–21. Live stats and video will be available.
