Party on the Plaza

It’s time for a getaway.

Newman University’s Party on the Plaza, “A Night in Tuscany,” is the perfect opportunity for a night out in Wichita that will transport you to the cobblestone streets of Italy. Lights will be strung across the plaza and elegant décor will create an atmosphere similar to that of an Italian sidewalk café.

The big event will take place on Founders Plaza Saturday, Sept 23, from 4:30-9 p.m. to raise funds for student scholarships.

The new theme will provide the opportunity to experience a different culture while keeping long-standing traditions of the past alive. The excitement and charm of past years’ Oktoberfest theme will not be lost at “A Night in Tuscany,” yet revived with fresh ideas.

Director of Alumni Relations & Annual Giving Sarah Strole said there are many new things planned for this year’s Party on the Plaza.

President Noreen M. Carrocci, Ph.D., will kick off the evening at 5:30 p.m. with a ceremonial “popping of the cork” following the 4:30 Mass in St. John’s Chapel (for those who wish to attend.)

Enjoy an authentic Italian dinner with entertainment from the Troubadours. A large selection of Italian wine is to be featured at this year’s newly themed tradition. No fear, the beer wagon will be stocked as well. You won’t want to miss it!

The 50/50 raffle will grant you the opportunity to walk away with some cash and Golden Tickets are available for $100. One lucky ticket will be drawn before the live auction and the ticket holder will win a live auction item of their choice.

The live auction will be led by auctioneer Charlie Moon and will feature many opportunities for travel and experiences including a vacation to Belize or a weekend trip to Branson.

This year’s Honorary Chairs are Dr. Jody & Stella Galachia along with Sponsors David & Glenna Borho and Dale Withers.

Party on the Plaza tickets are $120 each and can be purchased online. Reservations are required, so get your tickets now!
