Eck Hall Renovation

The sound of electric saws and jackhammers are difficult to ignore throughout the offices of Eck Hall where administrators and faculty continue to work while renovation construction begins.

Administrative Assistant of Nursing and Allied Health Tina Ast describes the construction around her as she works: “It’s very [chaotic] and loud. Once in a while it scares you out of your chair. The doors are open so it gets a little hot in here.”

The Eck Hall renovation is part of the Facing Forward campaign that also includes the construction of a new state-of-the-art science building – the Bishop Gerber Science Center. The Eck Hall renovation will include the construction of high-tech radiologic technology labs, nursing labs, and respiratory care labs. The west wing of Eck Hall will connect to the Bishop Gerber Science Center.

When asked what we can look forward to after the construction is completed, Ast responded, “Peace and quiet, beautiful labs, and nice looking classrooms.”

The Bishop Gerber Science Center construction begins with a celebratory groundbreaking event at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, June 10, and is a part of the All-Alumni Reunion Weekend taking place at Newman University from Friday, June 10 through Sunday, June 12.
