Newman University Athletics is organizing its second annual alumni gathering in the form of a golf tournament, which will start at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 2, at the Derby Country Club.

The four-man scramble tournament is open to all Newman alumni, former student-athletes and coaches. Registration is $50 per player or $200 per team. Drinks will be provided during the tournament, which will be followed by a short ceremony with prizes and lunch.

Zane Ehling, associate athletic director for external operations, said he and his colleagues are looking forward to reconnecting with alumni.

“Last year we did a volleyball game, a soccer game and a reception,” said Ehling. “We can’t do that this year, so we decided to do the golf tournament. We thought this would be a good way to still have people get together and reconnect.”

The athletic department said keeping the cost low was at the forefront of their plan so all alumni, young and old, are able to come out and enjoy a fun day.

Ehling said there are still plenty of spots available. The goal is to have at least 18 teams on the course, but they can accept as many as 36 teams.

To register, visit the event registration website or for more information, contact Ehling at (316) 942-4291, ext. 2110 or [email protected].
