Newman University will soon be accepted on Phi Theta Kappa’s Transfer Honor Roll list for 2018. According to Phi Theta Kappa’s website, the list recognizes baccalaureate degree-granting institutions who “honor excellence and success in community college transfer pathway development.”
Phi Theta Kappa itself is an honor society for two-year institutions, like community and junior colleges, that has worked to complete its mission since 1918.
As part of the award, Newman University will receive recognition on Phi Theta Kappa’s website, press materials, social media channels and more. Also, Newman University will receive an official Honor Roll seal, and will be invited to the society’s national convention, which takes place in April in Kansas City.
Newman University has had a long history of working with community and junior colleges to help students finish their degree. In 2016, Newman University finalized an agreement with another Kansas institution, Butler Community College, to accept all associate degree owners into Newman University at junior standing.
