October brings with it several interesting events to be held on Newman’s campus. The first is “Beyond Notre Dame’s Walls: Reading Great Books with the Homeless,” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14 in the Dugan-Gorges Conference Center presented by Stephan Fallon, Ph.D., chairperson of the Program of Liberal Studies at Notre Dame’s Great Books Department.

Two events will keep campus bustling the last week of October. The Gerber Institute for Catholic Studies will welcome nationally known columnist, author and political commentator E.J. Dionne, Jr. to speak on health care reform at 7:30 p.m., Oct. 26, in Performance Hall of the De Mattias Fine Arts Center. The following evening, the Campus Ministry office welcomes Larry Schauf, board member of the Shroud of Turin Education and Research Association and a former federal prosecutor, to present “Trial of the Shroud of Turin” at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 27, in the Dugan-Gorges Conference Center inside the Dugan Library and Campus Center.
