Newman University again posts record enrollment

Newman University officials announced today that the university has again posted record-high enrollment figures. According to the official federal enrollment report following the 20th day of fall classes, 3,021 students are enrolled for the fall 2011 semester, an increase of 275 over the previous year and the first time enrollment has reached the 3,000 mark in the school’s 78-year history.

Newman University to stage ‘Party on the Plaza-Oktoberfest’ to benefit student scholarships

Newman University will bring an authentic German festival to campus for its annual fundraising and social event with the “Party on the Plaza – Oktoberfest 2011.” The event will take place from 4:30 to 11:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 24 on Founders Plaza, just south of the De Mattias Fine Arts Center on the Newman campus.

Newman University welcomes Father Michael Linnebur as chaplain, campus ministry director

Father Michael J. Linnebur has assumed the duties of chaplain and director of Campus Ministry at Newman University, effective June 20, 2011. Fr. Linnebur’s appointment to Newman is part of a round of new priest assignments made by the Most Rev. Michael O. Jackels, Bishop of the Diocese of Wichita.

Newman University nurse anesthesia program receives 10-year accreditation, new site approval from national agency

Newman University officials were recently notified that the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA) has granted the university’s Master of Science in Nurse Anesthesia program continued accreditation for 10 years, the maximum accreditation period the council awards. The accreditation is effective May 23, 2011.

Newman University again cited for community service

Newman University has again been named to the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for its exemplary service to America’s communities. The inclusion of Newman on the 2010 Honor Roll comes two years after the university was recognized in the 2008 list. Newman is one of only seven colleges and universities in Kansas and the only university in Wichita selected for inclusion on the 2010 Honor Roll.

Dual-admissions agreement with Dodge City Community College offers students scholarship, ease of transfer to Newman University

Newman University and Dodge City Community College (DCCC) have created an agreement that will offer a dual-admissions program and a special scholarship for DCCC students who continue their education at Newman. The agreement allows DCCC students who complete an associate of arts or associate of science degree to transfer to Newman University as juniors with all general education requirements met, with the exception of the philosophy and theology courses required of all Newman students. DCCC students who transfer to Newman will also earn a $3,000 per year scholarship, which is renewed each academic year so long as academic requirements are met.
