Dodge City area residents earn education degrees from Newman University

A total of 24 residents of Dodge City and other western Kansas communities were recently awarded degrees from Newman University. The students completed their requirements for graduation in December 2011. Fourteen area residents earned bachelor of science degrees in Elementary Education, while 10 earned master of science degrees in Education.

Newman University to hold Financial Aid Workshops Jan. 30 and Feb. 2

NU Admissions will hold two Financial Aid Workshops to provide information to students about scholarships, grants, loans, and FAFSA, as well as to address any other questions they may have. A free dinner will also be available for those attending the events. Special attention will be given to the new federal financial aid requirements.

HALO, Immigrant Family Support Network partner for Prayer Vigil Jan. 20

Newman University’s Hispanic American Leadership Organization (HALO) and the Immigrant Family Support Network are partnering to sponsor a Prayer Vigil in support of immigrant families and for a just legislative session in Kansas. The prayer vigil will be held in the Dugan-Gorges Conference Center on Friday, Jan. 20, at 7 p.m.

Newman University stages Fall 2011 Commencement

The Newman University Fall 2011 Commencement ceremony was held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011 at Central Community Church, 6100 W. Maple. A total of 196 candidates for degrees were honored in the ceremony, including 45 candidates for associate degrees, 100 candidates for bachelor’s degrees, and 51 candidates for master’s degrees.

Vanderpool, Brought, Schrader receive honorary degrees

University closes Dec. 23 for Christmas break

Newman University offices will close at noon on Friday, Dec. 23 for the Christmas holiday. Offices will reopen at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012. The Spring 2012 semester begins Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012.
