Balloon pop, Santa photos for a cause
The Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) Club and the Newman University Bookstore are teaming up with the hopes of benefitting a Newman graduate and former Bookstore employee. The OTA Club is planning to hold a “balloon pop” on Wed., Dec. 7, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the student center and proceeds will go to support Katie McKee, who has been diagnosed with a debilitating disease.

NU Men’s Basketball takes on WSU Dec. 19
The Newman University Men’s Basketball Team will meet Wichita State University in a regular season contest scheduled for 7:05 p.m., Monday, Dec. 19 at Koch Arena in Wichita. The Jets and the Shockers have previously played exhibition games; this is the first regular season game between the two teams.
Newman University collecting for ‘Soles4Souls’ shoe drive through Dec. 19
Newman University is now collecting for its ‘Soles4Souls’ shoe drive, sponsored by both Newman Athletics and the Nurses Christian Fellowship. Donations can be made on campus in Eck Hall and at the entrance of the Fugate Gymnasium through Dec. 19. Donations can also be made at the GoRun Wichita store on 21st and Maize Road.
Celebrating 100 years: Teresa (Mechtildis) Palsmeier, ASC
On Dec. 29, 2011, Teresa (Mechtildis) Palsmeier, ASC will celebrate her 100th birthday. Known better by her students as Mechtildis Palsmeier, ASC, Sister Teresa taught at Sacred Heart Academy from 1946 to 1959 and was also the school principal from 1960 to 1965.

Newman closed tomorrow at noon for Fall Break
That’s right! Newman will close at noon tomorrow, Oct. 21 for Fall Break. No classes will be held and all offices will be closed in the afternoon. The university will reopen on Monday, Oct. 24.
