The official federal enrollment report for the Spring 2014 semester shows a solid performance for Newman University, with enrollment growth driven by a new program launched in January. Spring enrollment totals show 3,297 students enrolled in courses at Newman — a new spring headcount record.

Art Day of Giving a success

The effort to raise money for Fine Arts at Newman University through the ICT Art Day Of Giving (DOG) campaign on Feb. 28 proved to be a great success, with donations exceeding $5,000. To add to this success, a portion of those donations are to be generously matched by the Knight Foundation.

Newman University receives generous gift from Adorers of the Blood of Christ

Newman University officials announced that the university has received a $2.5 million gift from the Adorers of the Blood of Christ (ASC), the founding and sponsoring order of the university. The gift will be used to support emerging science initiatives on the Newman campus which include a proposed new science facility.

Pope Francis appoints Msgr. Carl Kemme to head Diocese of Wichita

Pope Francis has named Msgr. Carl A. Kemme, vicar general and moderator of the curia for the Catholic Diocese of Springfield in Illinois, to be the 11th bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Wichita, Kan. The appointment was announced Feb. 20 in Washington, D.C., by Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano, apostolic nuncio to the United States.

In celebration of Black History Month, former Newman student, Jennifer Robinson, will display three pieces of original artwork during the Final Friday show, beginning tomorrow in the Steckline Gallery from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The inspiration for the artwork came from a Newman class, but not an art class as one might expect.

Since Feb. 23 the 2014 Newman University Phonathon has been underway and will run through March 11.  Each night from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m, students will call alumni, donors and friends of the university to raise money for the Newman Fund and share Newman-related experiences.
