Josh Chilson ’03 named president of Clearwater Bar Association
Newman University alum Joshua Chilson ’03 was recently named president of the Clearwater (Fla.) Bar Association. Chilson, who received the 2003 Harvey J. Ablah Award and the 2002 St. Catherine’s Medal while at Newman, will be one of the youngest presidents in the Clearwater Bar’s 84-year history.

Newman University Occupational Therapy students receive pins
Students in the Newman University Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program were recognized at a pinning ceremony May 10 on the Newman campus. The ceremony honors the completion of coursework and the beginning of two professional internships for students in the program. Upon completion of the internships, students will receive their degrees in December 2014.

Surendra Singh made many contributions to Newman over the past 45 years
Forty-five years ago, the Division of Science and Mathematics at what is now Newman University bore little resemblance to what it is today. Fewer than 30 students were majoring in biology. Those students had limited post-graduate career avenues. The division struggled to attract new students to a college with an enrollment of only about 700.
