Newman University Director of Choral Music Deanne Zogleman has been hired as guest conductor for the Heart of America Men’s Chorus. Zogleman will serve as the choir’s interim director through December 2011, while the chorus searches for a permanent director.

Newman University to offer new Marjorie Chance scholarships in nursing, allied health
Two new scholarships for students seeking degrees in nursing or an allied health field will be offered at Newman University thanks to the generosity of longtime Wichita resident, businesswoman and philanthropist Marjorie Chance.
NU’s Scott Nuss named SID of the Year
Newman University Sports Information Director Scott Nuss has been named the 2010-11 Heartland Conference Sports Information Director of the Year. The award recipient is selected each year by all sports information directors in the Heartland Conference. Read more about Nuss and the award.
Occupational Therapy students receive pins
Students in the Newman University Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program were recognized at a pinning ceremony May 15 on the Newman campus. The ceremony honors the completion of coursework and the beginning of two professional internships for students in the program. Upon completion of the internships, students prepare for a December 2011 graduation.

Spots are still available in the remaining two summer academic sessions at Newman University. The eight-week session begins Monday, June 13 and runs through Saturday, Aug. 6. The second five-week session begins Monday, June 20 and runs through Saturday, July 23.

Newman University offers online programs for those who would like to complete their degree from the comfort and convenience of their homes. Unlike traditional programs, modules in the online programs may be accessed at any time, without interfering with work schedules, family obligations, or other life events.

NU will host Music Theatre of Wichita workshop for teens
Music Theatre of Wichita in cooperation with Newman University will stage a summer camp style one-week intensive musical theatre academy for teens and theatre educators called MTWorkshop. The workshop, which will take place on the Newman campus July 10-16, is designed for those interested in advanced musical theatre programs and careers.

Students, honorary degree recipients to be recognized at Newman University spring and summer graduation ceremonies
Newman University will hold the Baccalaureate Mass and Commencement ceremony for spring and summer 2011 graduates on May 13 and May 14, respectively. The university will also honor graduating nursing students on May 13, as well as Occupational Therapy Assistant students on May 15 who have completed coursework and will begin internships.
