Fr. Tatro to leave Newman in June

NU Chaplain and Assistant Professor of Theology Fr. Joe Tatro has announced his resignation from the university, effective June 11, 2010. Fr. Tatro will pursue graduate studies in clinical psychology at the Institute for the Psychological Sciences in Arlington, Va., at the request of the Most Rev. Michael Jackels, bishop of the Diocese of Wichita.

The NU School of Nursing and Allied Health will launch an innovative RN-to-BSN program this fall that includes online courses. The program is designed specifically for registered nurses with an associate’s degree who want to earn a bachelor’s degree.

Newman University announces top scholarship recipients

Newman University officials announced today that 20 students have currently received the Cardinal Newman Scholarship, the highest award offered by the university. Cardinal Newman scholars receive $17,872 per academic year. As long as academic requirements are met, the scholarship is renewable for four years, which equates to a minimum total award of $71,488 per student.

Newman University launched an online version of the Challenge alumni magazine earlier in April. The launch coincided with the Spring 2010 printed publication. The online version provides an enhanced content experience, which includes extended content, videos, resources and links associated with each issue’s articles.
