Scooter’s Coffeehouse Grand Opening Tuesday, Jan. 19

Scooter’s Coffeehouse at Newman University will give students a pleasant surprise when they return to school next week – a Grand Opening celebration that will feature free coffee, free product samples, live music and more.

Gerber Institute panel to explore ‘Reconciliation and the Death Penalty’ Jan. 26

The Gerber Institute for Catholic Studies at Newman University will present a panel discussion called “Reconciliation and the Death Penalty: What is the Way Forward?” from 7 to 9 p.m. on Jan. 26, in the Dugan-Gorges Conference Center on the Newman campus. The event is free and open to the public.

‘The Miracle of Father Kapaun’ documentary will show at Newman on Feb. 1

The Catholic Diocese of Wichita will host a showing of the documentary “The Miracle of Father Kapaun” by Wichita Eagle videographer Travis Heying at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1, in Performance Hall, inside the De Mattias Fine Arts Center at Newman University.

Newman University honors fall 2009 graduates

The Newman University Fall 2009 Commencement ceremony was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12 at Central Community Church, 6100 W. Maple. A total of 183 students graduated, including 28 who earned associate’s degrees, 94 who earned bachelor’s degrees, and 61 who earned master’s degrees.
