Students work to collect 11,000 toothbrushes for Guatemalan children
Students in the “Study and Serve in Guatemala” program have launched a campaign to collect 11,000 new toothbrushes by April 1, for Guatemalan children. The campaign, called Project SONRISA, means “Project Smile” in Spanish and was created by Sonja Bontrager, assistant professor of Spanish and chair of the Foreign Language Department at Newman.

‘A Decade of Glass’ to open in Steckline Gallery
Glassblower and artist Scott Hartley of Infinity Art Glass is set to exhibit “A Decade of Glass,” a show of hand-blown art glass at Newman University’s Steckline Gallery. The Final Friday opening reception is scheduled for 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 26, in the De Mattias Fine Arts Center.

Social, dance benefit for Haiti moved to Feb. 20
The social and dance to benefit Haiti, which was postponed because of winter weather, is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 20. The social will feature food and beverages, and will be followed by a dance featuring a deejay, refreshments and snacks.
Harris Connect directory project begins
Harris Connect launched the data verification phase of its Newman University Alumni Directory project this week. Alumni should expect to receive a postcard and series of e-mails that outline steps for participation.
