The Newman University Student Athlete Advisory Committee (S.A.A.C.) organized its second annual Ugly Sweater Run on Nov. 15 on the campus of Newman University. The event, which included 30 runners participating in the race and donations from students, faculty and staff, raised $820 for Make-A-Wish.

A group of Newman University history majors will present the results of original research they conducted on ancient artifacts at 9 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 20 at the Museum of World Treasures, 835 E. 1st St. in Wichita’s Old Town. The event is open to the public.
NU to host Heartland Conference Cross Country Championship
Newman University is set to host the 2014 Heartland Conference Championships this Saturday (Nov. 8) at the Cessna Activity Center. The women’s 6k race is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. with the men’s 8k race to follow at 10:40 p.m. For more information on this event, click here.

Newman student’s design selected for Catholic Charities Christmas Appeal
Newman University senior Graphic Design student Gloria Esparza had her designs selected for this year’s Catholic Charities annual Christmas Appeal. Esparza’s designs and name, along with Newman’s name and logo, will appear on the appeal card and envelope, Christmas card and envelope, and a donation envelope with letterhead.

Newman hosts 50th reunion for Sacred Heart Academy alums
Newman University hosted the 50th anniversary of the graduation of the Class of ’64 from Sacred Heart Academy. At the time, the Academy was still an all-girls high school which continued until the fall of 1966. The reunion took place Oct. 10 and 11 and was located throughout campus.

Women’s Golf Team Wins Second Tournament
The Newman University Women’s Golf team just won its second tournament of the season at the Lady Buff Stampede on Oct. 6-7 at La Paloma Golf Club. The Lady Jets are now two for two after starting the season winning the Concho River Classic on Sept. 16 hosted by Angelo State University.
