The Newman University Vantage student newspaper won 21 awards at the Kansas Collegiate Media conference April 11 at the Drury Plaza Broadview Hotel in downtown Wichita. Monday, April 13 marks the official Tuition Stop Day at Newman University – the day when tuition paid by students stops covering the cost of their education, and the remainder of the financial quarter is funded by Newman donors through numerous scholarships offered at Newman University.

Newman professor to attend NEH Summer Institute

Assistant Professor of English Susan Crane-Laracuente, Ph.D., has received a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities to attend a  three-week NEH Summer Institute entitled “What is Gained in Translation: Learning How to Read Translated Texts.” The institute will take place from June 7 to June 27 at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio.

Ten high school students received Fall 2015 Cardinal Newman Scholarships.

Newman University has announced 10 recipients for Fall 2015 Cardinal Newman Scholarships. The scholarship is Newman’s highest valued award, providing full tuition for four years to each student. The combined estimated value of the 10 scholarships is $1.1 million.

On Tuesday, March 31, Newman University in partnership with Friends University held the “Career Fair on Highway 54.” The fair was a big success, with 66 companies and organizations set up in The Dugan-Gorges Conference Center hoping for the chance to talk to potential employees. This was the biggest Career Fair Newman has ever hosted.

The curtain falls on ‘Hamlet’

Six weeks and five performances later “Hamlet” is finally laid to rest. Newman University Director of Theater Mark Mannette spent the last six weeks directing students in the Shakespeare play “Hamlet.” After all five performances including a shortened matinee, the play had 378 attendees.
